My name’s Steve MacKley, and I’m a self-employed graphic designer. I first became interested in type and design during my early teens, when I was sorting lead type for an old Vandercook Press my high school had. My college years took me to Pittsburgh, where I studied Anthropology, and earned my Masters in Public Administration. Upon graduation, I moved to Washington DC working for GAO.
I eventually ended up serving as the Manager of Strategic Planning and Research for a public library system. This position re-taught me the importance of effective graphic design. I decided to pursue graphic design upon moving to Chicago. I specialize in crafting effective thoughtful and considered type-driven designs. You can see samples of work in my portfolio.
