TypeTogether releases Edita

TypeTogether the foundry that brought us the highly popular Skolar, has released the new workhorse face Edita.  From TypeTogether.

Edita is a gentle typeface, humanistic in concept yet with a contemporary feel, where softness and fluidity play a very important role. This can be seen especially in its italics, which are loosely based on handwriting. This book typeface family is intended to be used in books where text is set together with photographs and other graphic elements. However, Edita is a general book typeface, versatile enough to be used in many other contexts, from novels to promotion material.Edita’s large character set, covering most languages which use Latin script, and styles give the designer the possibility to work with a big typographic palette, allowing complex typesetting with several levels of information.

Calluna by exljbris Released on MyFonts

Jos Buiveng a of exljbris just released his latest font Calluna.

calluna_4tpf_5927

Many may be familiar with Museo, another of exljbris’ excellent fonts.   To me Calluna looks just as interesting. It is an a full family in eight weights and is a bargain. Calluna is available via MyFonts.

New Font: Now with More Glyphs!

I’ve completed more on the font.  Most glyphs are now complete.  The biggest addition is accented characters and old-style figures.  Small Caps are coming, and then I commence to kerning.

Neue Frutiger released by Linotype

At Typecon Linotype announced the availability of Neue Frutiger.  Akira Kobayashi—working closely with Adrian Frutiger— redesigned  the iconic Frutiger type face. Full info here.

From Linotype’s site:

2009′s Neue Frutiger is a rethink of the 1977 Frutiger family, now revised and improved by Akira Kobayashi in close collaboration with Adrian Frutiger. Despite the various changes, this “New Frutiger” still fits perfectly with the original Frutiger family, and serves to harmoniously enhance the weights and styles already in existence. The perfect mix, guaranteed Neue Frutiger has the same character height as Frutiger. As a result of this, already existing Frutiger styles can be mixed with Neue Frutiger where necessary. Likewise, Neue Frutiger is perfect for use alongside Frutiger Serif.
